BMO (Bank of Montreal) is one of the biggest, and most trusted, banks in Canada.
BMO offers single trip and annual multi-trip emergency medical coverage, trip cancellation/interruption and baggage insurance.
Advantages
- Nice range of options, allowing you to get only the insurance that you need
- You can get coverage included in a credit card, or you can purchase stand alone policies for single and multi-trips
- Prices get cheaper as you bundle insurance
- No deductible
- Easy to use online quoting tool
Disadvantages
- This coverage is designed exclusively for BMO Financial Group customers
- You can not top up your other insurance policies with this coverage
- Does not cover adventure sports like hang-gliding, bungee jumping or rock climbing. Scuba diving is covered only if you hold a basic Scuba designation for a certified school.
Single Trip Plans
BMO offers a single Travel Medical policy, which you can purchase on it’s own, or you can upgrade to the Single Trip Premium Travel Plan Which includes extras such as baggage, flight delay, trip interruption, travel accident and flight accident all for a small additional premium over the basic single trip policy. Cancellation insurance can be added for an additional premium. Trip Protection (which comes with trip interruption and baggage insurance, but trip cancellation is optional).
It’s cheaper to bundle insurance packages than get them separately. For example, we were quoted $156.27 if we purchased Travel Medical Insurance and Trip Protection with Cancellation separately, but only $118.43 if purchased together (for a two week vacation for a 42 year old traveller).
Multiple Trip Plans
- BMO AIR MILES World Elite Travel and Medical Protection36 offering 15 days of Out of Province / Out of Country Emergency Medical protection up to $5,000,000.
- BMO Financial Group customers can purchase an annual multi-trip policy aside from the above credit card coverage for 4, 10 or 23 days limit per trip – unlimited number of trips per 12-month coverage period. Check out the options by clicking here: BMO Travel Insurance
